EC asks VPHi for input in Horizon 2020 Work Programme

Thanks to support from the European Parliament and an emerging realization of the role of in silico modelling and simulation in transforming the healthcare industry, in silico has featured prominently in the last Horizon 2020 work programme. Avicenna will be continuing its campaign to ensure in silico is firmly on the EU research agenda, but in 2016 that it does so with new drive and emphasis.

With the formalization of the Avicenna Alliance as a 50-50 partnership between academics and industry, Avicenna members now have the capacity to develop ready-made consortia from within the Alliance when responding to Horizon 2020 calls for proposals.

This means that Avicenna members have as a high a chance as it is possible to have to establish credible partnerships when applying for Horizon 2020 funding.

The Alliance will be putting forward suggestions on how calls for proposals on in silico medicine could be created to ensure modelling and simulation is used more widely in product development and in the development of more predictive models for improved diagnosis and care.
