Horizon Europe Task Force
Mission: Monitor, influence & inform on Horizon Europe Funding
The Horizon Europe Task Force focuses on maintaining strong relations with the European Commission (EC) to update them on advancements in insilico medicine and address key challenges, ensuringongoingresearch support. Thisinitiative builds on the VPH Institute'shistorical connections with the EC to advancein silico medicine in Europe. Since late 2022, the task force hasconcentrated on the EDITH coordination and support action, a European project led by VPHi.
In December, the EC launched the Virtual Human Twin (VHT) as its new flagshipprogram, aiming to unite academia, industry, and clinicians in developing and assessingdigital twins in healthcare. The programinvolvescreating a roadmap for VHT'sdevelopment, addressingtechnological, ethical, legal, and social challenges, user perspectives, interoperability, and sustainability. The EC isalsodeveloping a federatedresearchinfrastructure to support life sciences research in Europe.
Active involvement from the Avicenna Alliance in EDITH activities and its Industry Advisory Board hashelpedidentifyvaluablepropositions from diverse stakeholders, ensuring the roadmap'srelevance. The roadmap writing processisongoing, and feedback isencouraged via Google Docs. A public consultation on the draft willoccur in the fall, and the final EDITH ecosystem meeting will be held in Amsterdam on July 15-16.
