Avicenna Alliance represented at eHealth week in Malta!

The eHealth Week takes place every year and is co-organised by the Presidency of the Council and the European Commission.
This year’s eHealth Week will take place from 10 to 12 May in Malta, the country currently holding the Presidency of the Council. High-level delegations from all EU Member States will be invited to take part in this conference, which will be co-located with an eHealth Conference and Exhibition organised by HIMSS Europe. It is estimated that at least 1,300 delegates will attend.
The overarching theme of eHealth Week 2017 is Data for Health: the key to personalised sustainable care.
The subjects that will be discussed during the conference include:

• Patient access to and sharing of health data
• Moving health data safely onto cloud infrastructure
• Sharing personal health data across country borders
• Improving the effectiveness, safety and privacy of mobile health
• Scaling up digital innovation for health and care
• International cooperation in eHealth
• Smart environments and integrated care
• Data management and analytics for personalised medicine and public health policy

These topics will be addressed throughout 27 sessions organised by the Commission, the Presidency, HIMMS and WHO.

Avicenna Alliance’s Secretary General will co-chair the session entitled "In silico trials: Fostering safety and effectiveness by digitising trials". This session will focus on the benefits and challenges of integrating in silico trials into the biomedical product development cycle as today, the only accepted way to ensure the safety and efficacy of a biomedical product is to test it on living organisms, first on animals and then on humans. François-Henri Boissel, CEO of Avicenna Alliance member Novadiscovery will outline the benefits of applying their “Effect Model” to design and streamline clinical trials. This session presents an excellent opportunity to outline the ways in which the Avicenna Alliance is involved in this process.
