Avicenna Alliance Members Case Studies on in silico medicine

What can CM&S accomplish? Nothing short of redefining terms like ‘patient safety’, ‘efficacy’ and ‘cost effectiveness’ by forever raising the quality of data needed to meet high standards.

To do this we need to demonstrate what can be already done to give an idea of what we could do in future with the right regulator support and uptake across the healthcare sector.

The case studies in this document give but a glimpse of the potential that has yet to be unleashed by modelling and simulation.

Computational Modeling and Simulation of Medical Devices - Book Release

The medical device industry is increasingly adopting computational modeling and simulation (CM&S) throughout the product life cycle—from early-stage design and prototyping to regulatory submissions and post-market performance evaluation. A key challenge across all these applications is establishing whether a model is sufficiently credible to support (regulatory) decision-making. The ASME V&V 40 standard, published in 2018, introduced a risk-based framework for assessing model credibility and has gained broad acceptance across the industry.
